Class Structure
Each service requires a consultation to book.
Each private class will be taught using the same structure. Upon arrival, the trainer and client will discuss long and short-term goals and how to achieve them. The trainer will be observing the dog's behavior during the entire lesson.
After goals have been discussed, the trainer will teach the dog the initial desired behavior while the client observes. After the client is confident in the observed training, the trainer will then hand back the dog for the owner to practice the new cue. The trainer will observe the practice and make sure both owner and dog are fluent in the new cue.
The new cue will be initially achieved by using a high value reward given to the dog when the correct behavior is performed. This could mean using treats or pats paired with the positive reinforcer "YES." Learning "yes" paired with treats or pats makes sure the dog is able to be weaned off of the primary reinforcer for reliable results.
Homework will be given at the end of every class consisting of practicing what was learned in class. Dogs cannot learn without consistent repetition! 15 minutes a day, goes a long way!
